Travel stocking stuffers for teens are surprisingly easy to find when your kids love traveling as much as mine do.
My kids have been traveling since they were little, and thankfully, they are still genuinely excited about our trips. Now that they’re older, though, what they want to bring along has definitely changed. A portable charger or something for their AirPods is much more exciting than the little travel activities I used to pack to keep them busy!
Over the years, quite a few travel-related gifts have made their way into their Christmas stockings. Some are things my kids already own and use on our trips, while others are ideas I know they’d actually be happy to find on Christmas morning.
I also tried to keep these stocking stuffers…not $150 “stocking stuffers” that are really just Christmas presents stuffed next to the stocking. Most are small, useful, fun, and easy to toss into a carry-on for the next trip.
Quick Picks: Travel Stocking Stuffers for Teens
Short on time? These are a few of my favorite ideas from the list:
- Most useful: Portable charger — because a dead phone while traveling is basically a teenage emergency.
- Best for flying: Airplane Bluetooth adapter — lets them connect their AirPods or other wireless headphones to seatback entertainment.
- Best for beach trips: Waterproof phone pouch — especially useful for beach vacations, water parks, and resorts.
- Best fun pick: TALES Conversation Cards: Teens Edition — an easy thing to pull out during a long road trip or while waiting around at the airport.
Mom tip: Think about what your teen is always asking to borrow from you on trips. If I continually hear, “Do you have a charger?” or “Where’s the portable charger?” that’s usually a pretty good sign they need their own.
Tech Travel Stocking Stuffers for Teens
Let’s start with the obvious: teens travel with a lot of technology. Phones, AirPods, chargers and cords seem to come with us everywhere, so some of the most useful travel stocking stuffers for teens are things that keep all of that working (and hopefully keep them from borrowing yours).
Portable Charger
We own several portable chargers, and I’ve gone through quite a few different ones over the years. This portable charger is my favorite one I’ve found so far.
One of the things I love most is that you don’t need a separate cord to recharge the charger itself. It plugs directly into the wall, which means one less cord to remember (or lose!) when we travel. It also has different built-in charging heads, so it works with different devices without needing to carry a bunch of extra cords.
It’s also not nearly as heavy as some of the portable chargers I’ve owned. That matters when you’re carrying it around in a purse, backpack, or park bag all day.
We use portable chargers constantly when we travel, so this is one of those stocking stuffers that my kids have actually used long after Christmas.
One important thing to remember when flying: portable chargers need to stay in your carry-on, not your checked luggage. The FAA’s battery guidelines for airline passengers are worth checking before you fly, especially since individual airlines can have additional restrictions.
AirTag + AirTag Holder
I have a very personal reason for traveling with AirTags now. Years ago, my luggage was lost on a trip to Europe and one bag was never found. Not delayed for a few days. Gone.
That experience has stuck with me, so now I like having an AirTag in our luggage when we travel. It obviously can’t prevent an airline from losing a bag, but being able to see where your luggage is gives me some peace of mind.
They also make a lot of sense for kids and teens. Let’s face it, kids put backpacks, bags, and other things down and don’t always remember exactly where they left them. As they get older and start keeping track of more of their own stuff when we travel, an AirTag gives me a little extra peace of mind too.
Pair it with an AirTag holder, and you can attach it to a backpack or other travel bag instead of just tossing it inside a suitcase.
Losing that suitcase is just one of the experiences behind the travel lessons we’ve learned the hard way over the years.
If your teen has a Europe trip coming up, I also rounded up more useful gifts for a Europe trip that we own, use, or would happily pack ourselves.
Travel Electronics Organizer
If your teen’s charging cords somehow turn into a giant tangled mess approximately five minutes after leaving home, a travel electronics organizer gives them one place for cords, chargers, earbuds and other little tech items.
I also like anything that puts more of the packing responsibility on my kids as they get older. Their electronics, their organizer, their job to make sure everything they need actually makes it into the suitcase!
Airplane Bluetooth Adapter
This airplane Bluetooth adapter is one of the cooler travel stocking stuffers on this list, especially for teens who already have AirPods or other wireless headphones.
It plugs into the airplane entertainment system so they can listen through their own Bluetooth headphones instead of using the airline’s wired ones. Even better, this one can connect two pairs of headphones at once.
Airplane Phone Holder
An airplane phone holder clips onto the tray table area and holds a phone at eye level. It’s a simple little gadget, but it’s much nicer than holding a phone for an entire movie or trying to prop it against something on the tray table.
This would be especially good for a teen who downloads shows or movies before a flight.
Multi-Port USB-C Charger
Hotel rooms never seem to have enough conveniently located outlets for all of our devices. This multi-port USB-C charger turns one outlet into five charging ports, with both USB-C and traditional USB connections.
For a teen, it means one little charging block can handle their phone, AirPods, portable charger and other devices without packing a bunch of separate wall plugs. I also like that it comes in several colors, which makes it feel a little more like a stocking stuffer and less like something Mom bought because everyone needed another charger.
Travel Organization Stocking Stuffers for Teens
As my kids have gotten older, I’ve tried to make them more responsible for packing and keeping track of their own things. These stocking stuffers give everything a place to go—and hopefully means I hear “Mom, where’s my ___?” a little less often on vacation.
Mini Travel Makeup Bag With Mirror
This mini travel makeup bag with mirror is a cute option for a teen who has started bringing makeup along on trips. I purposely chose a smaller one for this list because we’re talking about stocking stuffers, not giant toiletry bags pretending to be stocking stuffers!
The built-in mirror is also handy when everyone is trying to get ready in the same hotel bathroom. A teen can take her makeup somewhere else in the room and free up a little bathroom space.
Toiletry Kit for Teen Boys
Teen boys may not need a huge toiletry bag, but they still need somewhere to put their toothbrush, deodorant, hair products and everything else they bring. This toiletry kit is compact enough to fit into a stocking and then actually be useful on the next trip.
Travel Jewelry Case
My daughter and I both own this travel jewelry case, and we bring ours whenever we travel. It’s small enough that it barely takes up any room, but it keeps necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets from becoming one giant tangled mess.
I especially like this one as a stocking stuffer because I already know it gets used. My daughter has her own, I have mine, and both come along on our trips.
Travel Wet Brush
The full-size Wet Brush has been one of my favorite hairbrushes for years, so naturally I also own the Wet Brush travel detangling brush.
It works just like the regular one but takes up much less space in a suitcase or carry-on. This is an easy, inexpensive stocking stuffer for a teen girl who travels, and one I can recommend because I actually pack mine too.
Fun Travel Stocking Stuffers for Teens
Not every travel gift needs to be practical! I like mixing in a few things that teens can actually use for fun on the trip, especially during long car rides, flights, airport waits, or those stretches of downtime back at the hotel.
Travel Journal for Teens
A travel journal for teens is a fun way for them to keep track of the places they’ve been without it feeling like a school assignment.
I take a ridiculous number of pictures when we travel, but pictures don’t always capture the little things you remember about a trip. I love the idea of having something they can look back through years later and remember details that would otherwise be forgotten.
Scratch-Off World Map
This scratch-off world map is especially fun for teens who already love to travel. They can scratch off the places they’ve visited and watch the map fill in over time.
It can also lead to plenty of discussion about where everyone wants to go next, which happens quite a bit in our house anyway!
We’ve always used travel as a way to make the world feel more real to our kids, and things like maps are a part of how travel has helped our kids learn geography.
TALES Conversation Cards: Teens Edition
These TALES Conversation Cards for Teens are the kind of thing I like for travel because they’re small enough to throw in a carry-on but can give everyone something to do when there’s a lot of waiting around.
Pull them out on a road trip, at the airport, while waiting for dinner, or back at the hotel. Sometimes getting teens talking without everyone staring at their phones is a win in itself.
Would You Rather? Road Trip Edition
A Would You Rather? Road Trip Edition book is another easy one to toss into a backpack or car for a trip.
With 369 questions, it could keep everyone entertained for quite a while, and I can already imagine some of the debates these questions would start in our family.
Think Outside the Phone!
The name alone sold me a little on Think Outside the Phone!. It has more than 175 brain games geared toward teens and gives them something to do during travel downtime that doesn’t involve another screen.
SUSSED: What Would You Do?
SUSSED: The Wacky “What Would You Do?” Game is another compact card game that works well for family trips. Everyone tries to guess what the other person would do in different situations, which is probably half the fun when you’re playing with people you think you know really well.
I like having a couple of small games like this tucked into our luggage because they take up almost no space and give us something easy to pull out when we have unexpected downtime.
Travel Comfort & Personal Care Stocking Stuffers for Teens
Some of the best things to pack are the little things that make traveling more comfortable. These are also perfect stocking-stuffer size and easy for teens to keep in a backpack, purse, or carry-on.
Silk Sleep Mask
A mulberry silk sleep mask is great for overnight flights, long car rides, or hotel rooms where the curtains somehow manage to let in a beam of sunlight directly onto your face at 6 a.m.
COOLA SPF 30 Lip Balm
I’m a big fan of travel items that are useful without taking up any room, and COOLA SPF 30 lip balm definitely fits that category.
It’s especially good for beach trips, cruises, theme parks, skiing, or anywhere teens will be outside for hours. Lips are really easy to forget about when everyone is putting on sunscreen, so I like that this has SPF 30 built right in.
Sunscreen is always a big part of our beach-trip packing, and I have more of the things we actually bring in my Caribbean all-inclusive packing list.
Waterproof Phone Pouch
A waterproof phone pouch is one of those things that comes in handy on so many of our trips. We use them for beach days, pools, water parks, kayaking and anywhere else we want our phones nearby without worrying about them getting wet.
Teens want their phones with them everywhere, including places where phones and water probably shouldn’t mix. A waterproof pouch gives them a way to keep it with them, and gives me a little more peace of mind too.
We used waterproof phone pouches constantly at Xcaret, where so many of the activities involve water. It’s also one of the reasons I think the resort is such a great fit for older kids, which I talk about more in who Hotel Xcaret Mexico is best for.
Touchscreen Gloves
For winter travel, these Isotoner touchscreen gloves let teens use their phones without constantly taking their gloves off.
We’ve done enough cold-weather trips to know that phones are still coming out for pictures, directions, texting and everything else, even when it’s freezing. Gloves that actually work with a phone make a lot of sense for teens.
Travel Stain Remover
This Puracy travel stain remover may not get the biggest reaction on Christmas morning, but hear me out. 😂
Eating on the go, airport food, road-trip snacks and restaurant meals eventually result in something landing on somebody’s clothes. A small stain remover is easy to throw into a suitcase and can save an outfit when you don’t have access to your normal laundry supplies.
RFID Wallet for Teen Boys
For a teen boy who is starting to carry his own money and cards while traveling, this RFID wallet is a useful step toward giving him a little more responsibility.
A wallet also gives him one designated place for spending money and cards instead of stuffing them into random pockets, which makes everything a little easier to keep track of while we’re traveling.
Wristlet Wallet for Teen Girls
For teen girls, this RFID wristlet wallet with a beaded strap is a little more fun than a basic wallet and still practical for travel.
The wristlet makes it easy to carry around when she doesn’t want a full purse, and it gives her a place for cards and spending money while sightseeing, shopping, or walking around a resort.
Luggage & Bag Stocking Stuffers for Teens
Once kids are old enough to have their own suitcase and carry-on, I think it’s fun for them to have a few things that make their bags feel like theirs. It also makes it a whole lot easier to tell everyone’s luggage apart when four suitcases come rolling off the baggage carousel.
Personalized Initial Luggage Tag
A personalized initial luggage tag is an easy way to make a basic suitcase a little more personal. There are different initials to choose from, so this feels more like a gift than simply buying your teen another piece of travel gear.
It’s also one of those stocking stuffers they can put on their suitcase right away and continue using trip after trip.
Sports Luggage Tag
For a sports-loving teen, I love the idea of choosing a luggage tag that shows off their favorite team. My son has a Penn State luggage tag, and he actually uses it all the time.
When we aren’t traveling, he keeps it on his basketball bag. When we have a trip coming up, he moves it over to his suitcase. It makes his bag easy to recognize and shows off a team he loves at the same time.

This football fan luggage tag would be a fun stocking stuffer for a teen who has a favorite college or football team. I especially like gifts like this that are inexpensive and small enough for a stocking but don’t just get tossed aside after Christmas.
If your teen is a Penn State fan too, we’ve also put together everything we’ve learned from going to Penn State football games as a family, from what to wear to what game day is actually like.
How I Choose Travel Stocking Stuffers for My Teens
After years of traveling with my kids, I’ve learned that the best travel gifts are usually the things they’ll actually use on our next trip. I’d much rather put a portable charger, luggage tag or travel game in their stocking than another little gift that will be forgotten by January.

I also pay attention to what they’re constantly asking me for when we travel. If I keep hearing, “Do you have a charger?” or “Can I put this in your bag?” that’s usually a pretty good sign they’re ready to have their own.
Of course, I still mix in some fun. They’re Christmas stockings, after all!
If you’re shopping for a sports-loving kid too, I also have a whole list of baseball stocking stuffers for kids and teens based on years of buying for my own baseball player.
