The Cooperstown All Star Village daily schedule is one of the biggest unknowns for families planning their first tournament week, and it can have a huge impact on everything from sightseeing to dinner plans.
Before our trip, I kept wondering what each day would actually look like. Would we have time to visit some places in the area? Could we plan a trip into town? Would we spend all day at the fields, or would there be long breaks between games?
The answer is…it depends.
Every team’s schedule is different, and no two days necessarily look alike. During our week, we experienced everything from an 8:30 a.m. first pitch to a 10:00 p.m. game that didn’t end until almost midnight. Some days gave us hours between games, while others revolved almost entirely around baseball.
In this guide, I’ll show you what our schedule looked like, explain how pool play and bracket play work, and share a few things that surprised us once tournament week actually began.

Our Cooperstown All Star Village Daily Schedule
Before we left for Cooperstown, I was constantly wondering what a typical week actually looked like. Once we got our game schedule, it finally started to make sense. Every team’s schedule is different, but seeing a real example helped me a lot when I was planning, so I thought I’d share ours.

It didn’t take long to realize there really isn’t a “typical” day at Cooperstown. One day we were at the fields before breakfast, and another night we didn’t get back to our Airbnb until almost midnight. Once the games started, we mostly let the schedule dictate our plans instead of trying to fit baseball around everything else.
Our schedule was one of the biggest reminders of how different Cooperstown is from a regular tournament.
When Will You Get Your Schedule?
One thing I couldn’t wait to see before we left was our game schedule. About 10 days before Opening Day, Cooperstown All Star Village released our pool play schedule. We were able to view it on the tournament website and in the SE Tourney app, and we also received an email letting us know our week’s schedule was live.
Once pool play wrapped up, we received another email when the playoff bracket was posted, making it easy to see who we played next and when.

Long Breaks Between Games
One thing that was different from our typical weekend tournaments was the amount of time between some of our games. On Monday, we played at 8:30 a.m., but our next game wasn’t until 10:00 p.m. That gave us almost an entire day to do something else before heading back to All Star Village.
For us, that meant visiting the National Baseball Hall of Fame, walking around Main Street, and having dinner with our team before our late-night game. Other days, we had much shorter breaks and spent more time relaxing at All Star Village between games.
Rain Can Change Things
Rain was in the forecast during our week, and I remember checking the radar more times than I’d like to admit. We had a morning game and another one that night, so I was convinced the rain was going to throw the whole day off.
It never did.
The rain came through, the fields drained, and we played both games exactly when they were scheduled. I don’t know if that would have happened at every tournament, but having all turf fields at Cooperstown All Star Village definitely works in everyone’s favor. Turf drains much faster than grass, so there’s a better chance games can stay on schedule after a passing shower.
Of course, if there’s lightning or severe weather, delays can still happen. We were just thankful that the weather didn’t end up changing our plans.
One Thing That Surprised Me
One thing that surprised me was how many teams checked out of the Player Village on Friday after they were eliminated. I assumed the boys would all stay in the bunkhouses through the Championship game until Saturday and that tournament week would end together for everyone.
Instead, our team checked out after lunch on Friday, and many other teams did too. A few families headed home, but most of our boys went back to their parents’ hotels or Airbnbs. Many of them came back later that evening to watch the championship game and spend more time together, but the Player Village was much quieter than it had been earlier in the week.
It’s something I’d recommend talking about with your team before you leave for your trip. Players are allowed to stay in the bunkhouses until Saturday, but if your team decides to check out on Friday, you’ll want to make sure your player has somewhere to stay that night.

Pool play schedules are typically released about 10 days before Opening Day. During our week, the schedule was posted on the Cooperstown All Star Village website, could be viewed in the SE Tourney app, and we also received an email when it was available. After pool play ended, we received another email letting us know the playoff bracket had been posted.
Can the Cooperstown All Star Village daily schedule change because of weather?
Yes. Weather can affect the schedule, although the all-turf fields at Cooperstown All Star Village drain much faster than natural grass. During our week, we had rain but all of our games were still played as scheduled. Severe weather, including lightning, can still cause delays.
How many games are guaranteed at Cooperstown All Star Village?
Every team is guaranteed six pool play games before advancing to bracket play. Once bracket play begins, teams continue playing until they are eliminated or reach the championship game.
Do players stay in the bunkhouses until Saturday?
Players can stay in the bunkhouses until Saturday, but many teams choose to check out after they’re eliminated. It’s worth talking with your team before the trip so everyone knows the plan and, if needed, your player has a place to stay Friday night.
